Nine Movies that Contained Real Sex Scenes
These are definitely not your everyday Rated-R films.
Filmmakers love to push boundaries. From having actors perform brutal fight scenes to jumping off buildings, authenticity is key to creating a great movie. However, some of these filmmakers go as far as having their lead actors recreate real and unsimulated, steamy sex scenes. Check out these nine films that go the extra mile when it comes to creating an authentic sex scene.
The Brown Bunny (2004)
You may not have heard of this film, but it received a lot of talk for its very REAL oral sex scene between director of the film, Vincent Gallo and famous actress Chloe Sevigny, who was dating Gallo at the time.
Actor Malcolm McDowell, who played the sex-obsessed Roman Emperor recreated many explicit sex scenes for the film, which according to some reviewers, made the film trashy. If you find the uncut version of the film, you may think it is borderline hard-core porn.
The Last Tango In Paris (1972)
The movie, starring a then 48-year-old Marlon Brando and then 19-year-old Maria Schneider, is considered one of the most infamous movie sex scenes ever filmed. Even though it did not contain actual shots of the stars having sex, Schneider revealed she felt “humiliated” and “a little raped” by Brando and the director Bernardo Bertolucci.
Al Pacino stars as a New York City detective who must traverse through the city’s gay S&M underground to solve a case. The film’s director, William Friedkin had to delete about 40 minutes of footage, where Pacino entered real gay clubs, where there was a lot more going on than dancing.
This erotic-comedy drama featured some familiar names, however the sex scenes in the film where performed by non-actors. According to the director, John Cameron Mitchell, the film tries to “employ sex in new cinematic ways because it’s too interesting to leave to porn.”
It was rumored that Shia Lebouf, who acted in this film, was having issues with his then girlfriend, Karolyn Pho, because he had to perform graphic sex scenes. However, it was learned that the sex scenes where performed by adult film actors who had the stars’ faces digitally placed on them.
The opening scene of this film is really graphic. However, director Lars Von Trier used porn stars as body doubles for actors Willem Dafoe and Charlotte Gainsbourg during their raunchy scenes and would just film shots of the actors faces.
9 Songs (2005)
The British film faced a lot scrutiny from members of the British Parliament for the amount of unsimulated sex it showed between the leading actors. There was so much sex in the film that The Guardian considered it one of the most sexually explicit mainstreams films.
Pink Flamingos (1972)
The movie is known for its profanity, nudity and outrageous scenes of sodomy, masturbation, rape, incest and murder. The John Waters film features murderous transvestites and even a couple having intercourse with a chicken in between them. Talk about imagination!
